Update to the Board Meeting Announcement: The Northampton County School Board will hold a Work Session/Special Meeting. The work session will focus on the FY23-24 Budget followed by a closed session meeting to discuss personnel matters. The meeting will be held on March 9, 2023, starting at 5:30 pm and will be held at Central Administration Bldg., located at 7207 Young Street, Machipongo, VA 23405. Of 24 inquiries, there were 15 full applications.

The NCPS School Board Work Session scheduled for April 14 will now begin at 6:00 p.m

The following technology will be available for students during the 2021-2022 school year: Grades PK- 2- One Tab devices will be sent home for students to use during late openings and school closings. These do not require Internet connectivity. Hotspots are available for any student who lacks Internet connectivity. A check out form is required and is available in the main office. Grades 3-6- Chromebooks are available for checkout for at home learning. A check form is required and is available in the main office. Affordable Connectivity Program
The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more.
The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.
The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.
Who Is Eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program?
A household is eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program if the household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if a member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below:
Participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Public Housing Assistance, SSI, WIC, or Lifeline;
Participates in Tribal specific programs, such as Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal TANF, or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations;
Participates in the National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision;
Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year; or
Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider's existing low-income internet program.

Due to anticipated inclement weather this afternoon, the Community Math Night and all after school activities have been cancelled as a proactive measure for student and staff safety. The Math night is rescheduled for Tuesday, April 5th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. In addition on Tuesday, anyone who completes the Title I parent survey will have their child entered into a drawing for one of two bikes. The NCPS School Board will hold a special meeting in the Central Office Conference Room on 3/31/22 at 8:00 am. Those that wish to attend virtually may do so by clicking on the School Board Meeting link found on the NCPS website.

Due to the flooding of numerous roads in Northampton County, we will be forced to close schools early today. Northampton Middle and High Schools will be dismissing at 9:45 am and Occohannock and Kiptopeke Elementary Schools will be dismissing at 10:15 am

NCPS will be offering a clinic at each school site with the VDH team providing the COVID-19 vaccination to students, staff, and family members of the student or staff. A google form is posted below.
A parent/guardian does not need to be present, however the option for consented permission is available. Dates and times for these clinics are as follows:
NHS/NMS: Monday, March 21st 10 am to 2pm
OES: Wednesday, March 23rd 10 am to 2pm
KES: Thursday, March 24th 10 am to 2pm
Locations for the clinics are yet to be determined.
