Hello Parents, Students, and Families of Northampton Middle School!
We are excited to begin our 2025-2026 school year. The following is the “Top 5 Things to Know” as we start the School Year. As always, please ensure that you review the full student handbook with your student for the full list of standards and expectations we have for everyone at Northampton Middle School.
1. LOCKERS ARE BACK! All students will be expected to use their lockers to store their belongings. Backpacks, bookbags, and other bags are not to be brought into the classrooms this year. Chromebook bags should only contain Chromebooks, chargers, and possibly headphones/mice. Students have 5 minutes in between classes to use their lockers and get to their next class. There will be a two-week grace period to start the year with learning how to open their lockers. After this, it will be expected that students use their lockers on a regular basis and are on time for class.
2. This year will require continued flexibility and patience due to the renovation process on our campus. Please be mindful of any changes that may occur due to Construction and be patient with us as we navigate the months and years ahead during this process.
3. Parents are encouraged to ensure they have signed up for and receive ClassTag messages. We also have launched a Facebook page where information will be posted regularly. The best way to stay informed is to stay connected. This includes ensuring that our PowerSchool system has your most up-to-date contact information. If you have to change phone numbers during the year, please contact us to make the change in our system.
4. Please make sure you are familiar with the school dress code that is posted around the building and online. Students will be given a chance to “make it right” through either the clothes closet or by making a phone call to bring new clothes that adhere to the policy. This includes appropriate footwear (closed-toe/heel, hard-bottom). Appropriate footwear for Health/PE will also be required this year. Students will be required to change into sneakers or gym shoes for the gym portion of class if they are not already wearing appropriate footwear to school. Footwear such as slippers, house shoes, and slides/sandals are not permitted to be worn in the Middle School.
5. Monitor your child's Social Media and “Group Chats.” Safety is the school's main priority and this starts at home with monitoring these accounts and informing the school of potential issues. The School is not responsible for your child making a bad decision and the accompanying consequence because of something that arose the night before in a “group chat” or on Social Media.
We look forward to another successful year here at Northampton and your continued support and partnership.
