School offices and the central office will open at 10 a.m., and all 11 and 12-month employees will report to work at that time. NCPS recognizes that road conditions may impact employee commutes. Therefore, 11 and 12-month employees may contact their supervisor regarding work-from-home assignments. Liberal leave for 11 and 12-month employees is also authorized in lieu of reporting to the work site or working from home.

We're celebrating the amazing leaders who inspire our students every day by taking a peek behind the scenes. This week, we asked our principals to name the one item that is ✨always✨ on their desk - their "Desk MVP" - and here's what we learned:
⭐Dr. Yorko at Kiptopeke Elementary stays fueled with "Protein."
⭐Mr. Clark at Northampton High keeps a daily reminder of his perspective, stating," There is always something there that reflects spirituality."
⭐Mrs. McCowan at Occohannock Elementary focuses on wellness: "Water bottle! I just bought a 64-oz bottle to stay hydrated!"
⭐Mr. Wheeler at Northampton Middle keeps the fun rolling with his festive desk companion: "Anything gnomes. It changes with the seasons."
Thank you to all four of our principals for your dedicated leadership! Follow along all month as we share more about their service to our schools.

🛠️Our Automotive and Carpentry classes traveled to the State Fair of Virginia to participate in the SkillsUSA competition. Students had the opportunity to showcase their talents, apply their skills, and represent our division with pride. Carpentry students Trent F. and Brandon R. earned 4th place overall for their construction of a tool bench in just 3 hours. Congratulations! 🎉
🚌Our QUEST students had the honor of exploring the VA250 Mobile Museum, which brough key stories of Virginia's rich history, including the journey to the American Revolution, right to their backyard. What a chance to explore history in such an immersive way!
☮️The power of our unified community was on full display this week as middle and high school students and faculty celebrated our "One Team Against Bullying" spirit day on October 1st by wearing their favorite jersey and school gear. Students pledged to speak up with kindness, reach out with acceptance, and be a friend through inclusion.

We're hosting an evening filled with delicious food, lively music, beautiful art displays, and student presentations. Community resources will also be available. We invite guests to share dishes from their heritages as well!

Day in and day out, our custodians are the unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our schools sparkling, safe, and running smoothly. They do more than just clean; they help create the healthy, welcoming learning environment that makes our schools feel like home for our students and staff. We are so grateful for all our NCPS Custodians do to support our community. We couldn't do it without you! 💖
