Dear NCPS Families,
We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the 21st Century Community Learning Center After-School Program at Kiptopeke Elementary and Occohannock Elementary!
This free program, designed for grades K-6, begins September 15, 2025, and provides:
Academic support and enrichment with NCPS teachers
Hands-on activities in the arts, health, and social-emotional learning
“Life on the Eastern Shore” themed units exploring local history, culture, and the environment
Mentorship and enrichment led by YMCA-trained instructors and community partners
Family engagement opportunities to strengthen home-school connections
Applications are due August 18, 2025. After that date, applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis as space allows.
Kiptopeke Elementary School joins an elite group of schools recognized by National PTA for their partnership with families through PTA to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students.
These free, expert-led sessions offer support on parenting, mental health, and helping your child thrive.

Their presentations on eelgrass, oysters, and marine life of the Eastern Shore wowed community members and fellow students alike. These hands-on projects brought science to life—and our students rose to the occasion as researchers, presenters, and stewards of our local environment.
