NCPS Update: SNAP Benefits and Continued Virginia Support

Dear NCPS Families,

We are pleased to share an important update regarding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) has confirmed that SNAP benefits will continue to be funded, and there will be no interruption to benefits at this time.

This update is a testament to the Commonwealth’s unwavering commitment to supporting families across Virginia. The Virginia Emergency Nutrition Assistance (VENA) program, a crucial safeguard, remains in place, and state officials have confirmed that SNAP recipients will receive their benefits as scheduled.

What This Means for Families

  • SNAP benefits will continue without any delay.

  • Families do not need to take any action to maintain eligibility or access to benefits.

  • VDSS, as the oversight agency for the SNAP program, will continue to closely monitor federal developments and share updates as needed. This means that any changes or updates to the SNAP program will be communicated to you promptly.

  • Local and school-based food resources remain available for any families experiencing food insecurity or hardship.
