NHS Virtual Plan 2022-2023

Messaging to families-

All calls, class tag, and emails will have the correct terminology so that students know it is a virtual instructional day.

Every teacher will develop a class plan that will include:

  • A google classroom folder or some other organized easily accessible way for students to access information electronically. This should be introduced and shown to the students ahead of time, so they know where it is. These folders can be downloadable so that they can viewed offline.

  • The assignments in the folder will be asynchronous. Ideas include independent reading, certification practice, missing assignments etc… Please consider the following.

    • Be mindful of the amount of work, use the 1 to 3 rule. Whatever length of time it takes you multiply it by 3 for the average time it takes students.

    • Do not use new applications or computer programs that kids don’t know how to use.

    • Give very clear directions. Please include how much time students have to turn this in and how to turn this in.

  • Grading the assignment and attendance- Students should receive 5 days to turn this in for full credit and credit for attendance. After 5 days the student may turn the assignment in for reduced credit but will not receive credit for attendance.

  • Office hours- Each teacher will be made available to students every class period for a 30 min office hours. Students should be able to reach you by google meet or to call in with a phone number. You can use the google meet phone number for call ins. Students should know how to access time with you ahead of time and the info should be in your virtual folder.

    • 1st period- 8:30-9:00

    • 2nd period- 10:00-10:30

    • 3rd period- 12:00-12:30

    • 4th period- 1:00-1:30

  • Instructional Assistants-

    • IA’s will have a group of students to call and check on attendance, grades, and mental health. These lists will be given ahead of time by the office staff.
