NCEF LEGO Grant Donation

Machipongo, VA - Northampton County Public Schools (NCPS) is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a $32,000 grant from the Eastern Shore Virginia Community Foundation (ESVCF) via the Northampton County Education Foundation (NCEF). This substantial grant will revolutionize the division’s current STEM Labs at Kiptopeke Elementary School (KES) and Occohannock Elementary School (OES), providing students with more profound, hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math learning experiences.

The grant will fund the integration of LEGO® Education SPIKE Essential kits into the existing STEM curriculum. These modules provide a cross-curricular, inquiry-based approach to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education that strengthens literacy, math, and social-emotional skills for our NCPS  elementary students. With hands-on projects rooted in real-world concepts, the SPIKE Essential program supports creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in grades K–6 classrooms.

This program, is meticulously designed to align with academic standards, cultivates critical skills for future careers in aerospace and beyond by introducing students to fundamental concepts in aerodynamics, robotics, and engineering.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Eastern Shore Virginia Community Foundation and the Northampton County Education Foundation for their never-ending investment in our students. Your generosity is instrumental in helping NCPS remain Anchored in Excellence.
